57th Annual Maine Scientific Session -- The Metabolic Syndrome & Coronary Risk

February 10 & 11, 2007 -- Samoset Resort, Rockport

The American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, Maine Division is extremely proud to announce the 57th Annual Maine Scientific Session.  For over fifty years this conference, which has a national reputation within the American Heart Association, has attracted a large percentage of Maine's cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, internists, family practitioners and coronary care nurses, as well as other health professionals.  In addition to the exceptional education program, the Scientific Session offers an excellent exhibition area and ample opportunity to interact with the attendees.  We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Robert H. Eckel, President of the American Heart Association, a Charles A. Tobacco Use and Chronic Illness Training

March 7, 2007 - The Senator Inn, Augusta

The Center for Tobacco Independence is conducting a training that will focus on developing skills on how to deliver brief counseling to individuals who are using tobacco and also coping with diabetes, asthma or cardiovascular disease.  The curriculum of the training will include discussion of the interrelatedness of tobacco use with these other chronic conditions, special considerations in provision of tobacco treatment in the context of these conditions, and how to help to motivate individuals who due to their illness may be feeling discouraged and helpless in implementing lifestyle changes.  For more information, please contact gagnes@mmc.org.  Cost - $50.

Geriatric Mental Health:  Issues and Challenges
